ALBA Summit Discusses Foreign Policy Issues

logo ALBAGuayaquil, Jul 30 (Prensa Latina) The presidents of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) are meeting today in Guayaquil for the 12th Summit, in which Ecuador will debate external policy issues, to strengthen the integration of the peoples .

The Ecuadorian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a release that the delegation of this country will take inclusive and participatory integration to the presidential debate, focused on respect for human dignity and economic development, in the right to self-determination of the peoples, and the defense of sovereignties.
It explained that the topics to discuss will include the ALBA-TCP institutional strengthening, the widespread use and expansion of the Unified System for Regional Compensation (SUCRE), the Common Reserve Fund, and the increase of social programs and missions, among others.

The heads of State and Government, as well as official delegations of the member countries of the body, including Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Ecuador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, and St. Lucia, will attend the ALBA Summit.

The ministry stated that representatives of Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Suriname, Guyana and Haiti will participate as special guests.

It noted that the ALBA Social Movements Council Summit, in which more than 200 delegates from those bodies will be present, is being held in the same city until today.

For the Social Movements Council Summit, panels and forums will be made about the future of Latin America, the change in the productive roots, the role of women in the ALBA, the agrarian revolution, food sovereignty, and the Good Life, among others.
